Clean Energy Legislation Approved by House Committee
On May 21, 2009, the House Energy and Commerce Committee concluded a four-day mark up and approved H.R. 2454, The American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES), by a vote of 33 to 25. (See today's ITT, 09052205, for details.)
Senate Finance Chair Urges President to Send Panama FTA to Congress Soon
In a May 21, 2009 hearing, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Baucus (D) issued a press release stating that good progress has been made on outstanding issues with the U.S.-Panama Trade Promotion Agreement (PNTPA). Baucus urged the administration to submit the PNTPA to Congress for consideration soon. Baucus' hearing statement is alsoavailable.
Senate Passes Supplemental Appropriations Act
On May 21, 2009, the Senate passed the Supplemental Appropriations Act, H.R. 2346, which includes supplemental funding for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2009, for the Departments of Homeland Security, Defense, Agriculture, Commerce, Health and Human Services, etc. (The House passed its version of H.R. 2346 on May 14, 2009.)
