(The Department of Homeland Security has also issued its semi-annual regulatory agenda for CBP. See ITT's Online Archives or 05/14/09 news, 09051430, for BP summary of DHS' agenda.)
This agenda is a comprehensive list of Treasury's CBP rulemakings (i.e. those regulations that pertain to 19 CFR) that are pending at the proposed, interim final, final, and completed stages, as well as rulemakings that are long-term actions. The agenda lists the regulation title; past regulation(s), if any; the timeframe for the next regulatory action(s), if any; a brief description of the regulation; and a contact party name and telephone number.
Spring 2009 Agenda Lists Two New Rulemakings
DHS' spring 2009 agenda for CBP has some substantive differences from the fall 2008 agenda. For example, two new items appeared on the agenda under the proposed rule stage - (1) "Definition of Commercial Truck" and (2) "Customs Broker Recordkeeping Requirements Regarding Location and Method of Record Retention." Another difference is the move of the rulemaking "First Sale Declaration Requirement" from the final rule stage to the long term actions stage.
Agenda Highlights
Highlights of Treasury's CBP rulemakings that are at the proposed, interim final/final, or completed stages, or that are long term actions, are as follows:
