COAC to Meet May 6th in Washington, DC
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a notice announcing that the first meeting of the eleventh term of Departmental Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Related Homeland Security Functions (COAC)will be held on May 6, 2009 in Washington, DC.

According to CBP, the tentative agenda for the May 6th meeting covers:
Trade Facilitation Subcommittee
Import Safety Initiatives
Importer Security Filing (10+2)
World Customs Organization
Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Subcommittee
Customs Bonds Subcommittee
Agriculture Program Update
Air Cargo Security
Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Update
Deadline for Written Material/Comments, Requests to Have Material Distributed
According to CBP, written material and comments are due by May 1, 2009. Also, requests to have a copy of material distributed to each member of the committee prior to the meeting are due by May 1, 2009. (CBP sources have previously stated that the public (as well as COAC members) can submit comments and materials.)
CBP states that since seating is limited, all persons wishing to attend this meeting should provide notice of attendance to Wanda Tate at tradeevents@dhs.gov or (202) 344-1440, preferably by close-of-business May 1, 2009.
