CBP has posted a memorandum announcing that the first opening of the recently increased global refined sugar tariff rate quota that is being reallocated from Mexico oversubscribed at opening. The pro rata percentage is 82.24822% or 0.8224822.

1. First Opening of Mexico's Re-Allocated Refined Sugar Portion to Global Refined Sugar TRQ Oversubscribed
Entries or withdrawals for consumption for global refined sugar presented after the opening should be returned to the broker for amendment. The importer has the option to distribute the prorated allocation on a given entry (i.e., more or less than the prorated amount, or none at all). The importer may also transfer the allotment to entries at another port. However, in any of these scenarios, the importer may not enter more than the total prorated amount that was properly presented at opening.
CBP previously noted that the remaining allocations will consist of 10,000,000 kg each, which CBP will announce in subsequent notices. October 31st ACE problem fixed. CBP has issued a CSMS message announcing that it resolved an issue on October 31, 2008 regarding trade users experiencing difficulty creating and submitting e-Manifests in ACE. CBP, CPSC partner with importers on ISA-PS pilot. CBP has issued news release announcing that CBP, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, is expanding the CBP Importer Self-Assessment Program to include a product safety component, the Importer Self-Assessment Product Safety, as part of a pilot program. Global Entry available at LAX, O'Hare. CBP has issued news releases announcing that Global Entry enrollment centers are now available at Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport. Andrade to open earlier during harvest season. CBP reports that it will open the Andrade port of entry two hours early Monday through Saturday, starting November 10 through December 27, 2008, to accommodate the seasonal influx of agricultural workers from Mexico. Hours of operation at the port will be from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the two-month period.
