1. CBP to Support National IPR Coordination Center

The IPR Center will bring federal agencies together to combat the criminal organizations bringing counterfeit and pirated goods into the commerce of the U.S. (See ITT's Online Archives or 07/14/08 news, 08071420, for BP summary of DHS establishing the IPR center.) 2. CBP Temporarily Removes Entry Summary ACE ABI CATAIR Chapter

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has temporarily removed the Entry Summary Query chapter of its "ACE ABI CATAIR" document from CBP's Web site. CBP states that this transaction and the chapter are being reworked and will be reposted in the near future. 3. New Rules for ACE Secure Data Portal Password Format Coming This Fall

CBP has issued a notice announcing that it will soon implement new rules for the format of Automated Commercial Environment Secure Data Portal passwords.

Upon implementation, the new policy will not affect users with existing passwords and will only be enforced when a new password is generated or an existing password is changed or reset. The new policy is expected to be in effect during the fall of 2008.

4. EU Currency Rates for July 11-13 Were Incorrect in ACS Currency File

CBP has issued a CSMS message announcing that the European Union (EU) currency rates for July 11 - 13, 2008 were incorrect in the Automated Commercial System (ACS) currency file; however, the rates were fixed on July 11th. 5. Updated TRQ/TPL "Threshold to Fill" List

CBP has posted an updated version of its TRQ/TPL "threshold to fill" list, a quick reference to monitor tariff rate quotas and tariff preference levels that are approaching the restraint limit or have filled the in-quota (low duty) rate. The list is divided into two sections - quotas that are at least 85% filled and quotas that are closed.
