CBP CSMS Messages and Web Postings
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued an ACE Portal Accounts and ACE Reports CSMS message announcing that the following ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) Account Revenue report enhancements have been made to improve performance:

1. New ACE Account Report "Designed for Brokers" Enhanced
AR 007 Periodic Statement Quickview - Broker and AR 007 Periodic Statement Quickview - Importer will no longer return data for all statements. Whether the user runs the quickviews from the "Reports" tab in the ACE Secure Data Portal or from the "Statements" tab, the results will display open statements only.
"PMS Date" range will replace the current "Periodic Monthly Statement Date" prompt when running the AR 007 Periodic Statement Detail report. Users can enter the same date in both the beginning and ending date fields to view results for one monthly statement.

2. Rail AMS Experienced Problems on June 15th
CBP has issued a Rail Manifest CSMS stating that at approximately 13:35 EST on June 15, 2008, Rail AMS (Automated Manifest System) began experiencing problems resulting in failed 309 transmissions. Service was restored as of 14:35 EST on June 15th. However, all failed 309's needed to be retransmitted. 4. Other CBP Postings and Messages
Updated list of RLF operational locations. CBP has posted a document listing the Remote Location Filing (RLF) operational locations. The list includes the port name, port code, the Electronic Invoice Program (EIP)/RLF coordinator, the phone number (and extension, if applicable), and the fax number for each location. CBP Texas uncovers untreated wood packing materials, etc. CBP reports that officers at ports of entry in El Paso, West Texas and New Mexico recorded a total of 14 agriculture violations during the week of June 9, 2008, resulting in $2,875 in penalties being assessed, etc. Also on June 9, 2008, CBP agriculture specialists working at the Ysleta cargo facility performing an inspection of 500 imported wood pallets found that two pallets in the shipment had not been properly treated to prevent the potential entry of pests in accordance with shipping regulations. CBP authority to search. CBP posted a notice regarding its authority to search, which states: "All persons, baggage and merchandise arriving in the Customs territory of the United States from places outside thereof are liable to inspection by a CBP officer."
