(In April 2008, CBP posted customized ACE Portal Reports Dictionaries for importers, brokers, carriers, and PGAs (participating government agencies)1. A dictionary for CBP personnel has also been issued.)
Dictionaries Enable Users to Understand Parameters of Report, Etc.
These dictionaries enable users to quickly understand the parameters of a report, making it easier to identify the appropriate report for a specific need. CBP states that the more comfortable users become with running ACE reports, the more likely they will be able to utilize additional data elements to customize reports, which support daily business operations and are used to monitor trade compliance.
Dictionaries Contain Info on Frequently Accessed Reports for Each User Type
CBP states that these customized dictionaries provide information on the most frequently accessed reports for each user type. The dictionaries have several user-friendly features to help quickly locate reports, including a catalog of reports as they are listed in the ACE Secure Data Portal. Users are also able to locate a particular report by clicking the report name listed in the table of contents, searching for a word or phrase via a built-in search feature and referencing the index for a specific data element.
Each report entry contains five distinct sections including the report name, a user-specific synopsis, a visual depiction of the initial report, definitions for all data elements included in the initial report and definitions for supplementary data used to customize the report. Users are better able to obtain desired information by utilizing the reports dictionary to pinpoint the most effective reports.
1The PGA dictionary has been removed from CBP's Web site; CBP sources are not sure when or if this dictionary will be reposted.
(See ITT's Online Archives or 04/11/08 news, 08041110, for BP summary announcing the availability of these dictionaries.)
