2. Other CBP Postings and Messages
CBP LA/LB seized $4.8 million worth of fake items in May. CBP reports that officers at Los Angeles and Long Beach seaports seized over $4.8 million worth of counterfeit merchandise in May 2008. The items included handbags, shoes, toys, DVD movies, sunglasses, wearing apparel, and many other fake goods. CBP AZ seizes tractor-trailer containing marijuana. CBP reports that agents in Tucson, AZ seized a tractor-trailer and arrested a suspected drug smuggler at a Sonoita, AZ checkpoint. The tractor-trailer contained several bundles of marijuana covered in laundry soap and concealed among cardboard bails. CBP receives Computerworld award for ACE. CBP reports that the Department of Homeland Security and CBP received the Computerworld Honors Program's 21st Century Achievement Award for continuing development of ACE (Automated Commercial Environment). The antidumping and countervailing messages U.S. Customs Border and Protection issues on behalf of the International Trade Administration are now only available on CBP's Web site at http://addcvd.cbp.gov. AD and CV ABI administrative messages are no longer issued.
