2. FMC Commissioner Speaks About LA/LB Clean Air Action Plan
The FMC posted the Commissioner Creel's speech before the South Carolina International Trade Conference. Among other things, the Commissioner discusses the agency's involvement with the Los Angeles/Long Beach Clean Air Action Plan and its Clean Truck Program. 3. Seattle/Tacoma File Agreement on Environmental Issues with FMC
The Federal Maritime Commission issued a notice announcing the filing of the Port of Seattle/Port of Tacoma Puget Sound Air Quality Discussion Agreement, which would authorize the parties to discuss and reach agreement on measures addressing environmental issues arising from port operations. 5. OFAC Designates Four Individuals Under Terrorism EO
The Office of Foreign Assets Control has issued a notice publishing the names of four newly-designated individuals whose property and interests in property are blocked, effective May 27, 2008, pursuant to Executive Order 13224, Blocking Property and Prohibiting Transactions With Persons Who Commit, Threaten To Commit, or Support Terrorism. 6. NMFS Modifies Definition of Import, Imposes New Requirements for Shark Fins
The National Marine Fisheries Service issued a final rule, effective July 2, 2008, modifying the permitting and reporting requirements for the Highly Migratory Species International Trade Permit program to improve program efficacy and enforceability, and implement the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas bluefin tuna catch documentation program. The modified regulations also implement a new definition of "import," and require that shark fin importers, exporters, and re-exporters obtain the Permit to assist NMFS in monitoring trade of shark fins. 7. AMS Seeks Comments on Proposed Revision to Olive Oil Standards
The Agricultural Marketing Service has issued a notice soliciting comments on the proposed revision to the U.S. Standards for Grades of Olive Oil, which includes, among other things, new product descriptions, definitions, and requirements for certain olive oil grade designations. 8. AMS Seeks Applications for Sorghum Board Nominators
AMS has issued a notice announcing that it is accepting applications from State, regional, and national sorghum producer organizations or associations that desire to be certified as eligible to nominate sorghum producers for appointment to the Sorghum Promotion, Research, and Information Board. 9. Fruit and Vegetable Industry Committee to Hold Open Meeting
AMS has issued a notice announcing that it will hold a Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee open meeting on September 8, 2008 in Arlington, Virginia to examine the full spectrum of issues faced by the fruit and vegetable industry and to provide suggestions and ideas to the Secretary of Agriculture on how the USDA can tailor its programs to meet the fruit and vegetable industry's needs. 10. Committee on Universal Cotton Standards to Hold Open Meeting
AMS has announced that the Advisory Committee on Universal Cotton Standards will hold an open meeting on June 12-13, 2008 in Memphis, Tennessee to recommend to the Agriculture Secretary any changes considered necessary to the Standards and to review freshly prepared sets of Standards for conformity with existing standards.
