2. BIS Under Secretary Says U.S. Needs a New Export Control Enforcement Law
The Bureau of Industry and Security has posted a notice, written by Under Secretary Mancuso, providing reasons why the U.S. needs a new export control enforcement law. Mancuso states that Congress should move quickly to provide its law enforcement agents with the full range of statutory authorities they need to more effectively combat illegal trade in certain goods. 3. FSIS Updates Lists of Plants Certified to Export Meat, Poultry to U.S.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service updated its lists of eligible foreign establishments certified to export meat and poultry to the U.S. for the following countries: Australia, Canada,France, and New Zealand.
4. EC Authorized to Open Negotiations with U.S. on Visa Waiver Program
The European Commission has issued a press release announcing that the European Council has authorized the EC to open negotiations for an agreement with the U.S. regarding certain conditions for access to the U.S. Visa Waiver Program. 5. Ex-Im Bank Sub-Saharan African Committee to Hold Open Meeting
The Export-Import Bank issued a notice announcing that the Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee (SAAC) is holding an open meeting on May 14, 2008 in Washington, DC.
