Maximum Allowable Inactivity Period to Decrease from 90 Days to 45 Days
According to CBP, its new policy will change the period of allowable inactivity from up to 90 days to up to 45 days.
As a result, if the Trade Account Owner (TAO), the Proxy TAO or any Trade Account User does not access the ACE Secure Data Portal within 45 days, portal access for that TAO, Proxy TAO, and/or Trade Account User will be suspended.
(In May 2007, CBP issued a notice setting forth the terms and conditions that must be followed as a condition for access to the ACE Secure Data Portal. One of the conditions for portal access addresses the failure of the TAO, the Proxy TAO or any Trade Account User to access the portal for a period of 90 days consecutively. At that time, CBP stated that failure to access the ACE Secure Data Portal within the prescribed time period will result in the suspension of access to the portal. See ITT's Online Archives or 05/18/07 news, 07051810, for BP summary.)
CBP states that to prevent this from happening, the trade should ensure that all ACE Secure Data Portal users sign on at least once every 45 days.
CBP to Publish a Federal Register Notice Announcing Change
CBP adds that it will soon publish a FederalRegister notice announcing this change in the portal inactivity provision of the "Terms and Conditions."
