In-Bond Container/Equipment Functionality Delivered
As of April 12, 2008 truck carriers are able to report the export of an in-bond Transportation & Exportation (T&E) or Immediate Export (IE) by using e-Manifest Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) messages.
In addition, carriers are able to report the arrival and export of multiple in-bond shipments by container/equipment numbers if the shipments in that container/equipment are destined for the same U.S. in-bond destination.
On April 14, 2008, CBP also corrected the procedure for reporting in-bond arrivals and exports by container/equipment so that it adheres to the UN/EDIFACT standard. (See ITT's Online Archives or 04/15/08 news, 08041540 1, for BP summary.)
CBP adds that technical details regarding this new ACE functionality can be found in the Record of Changes documents located at http://cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/automated/modernization/carrier_info/etruck_tech_info/ace_edi_drafts/edi_messages/ansi_message_sets/rec_changes/.
(According to CBP sources, this enhancement relates to the ACE e-Manifest: Truck update that was scheduled to be deployed on April 5, 2008 providing ACE participants in the truck environment with the capability to arrive in-bonds at destination by container/equipment, export in-bonds that have previously arrived by in-bond bills of lading and container/equipment, and cancel in-bond arrivals and exports. CBP sources add that while this CSMS message does not reference the cancellation of in-bond arrivals and exports, this enhancement was also delivered.
See ITT's Online Archives or 03/25/08 and 03/21/08 news, 08032555 1 and 08032105, for previous CBP guidance on this issue.)
e-Manifest Coversheets Can Now be Printed for Driver Names with Apostrophes
CBP states that as of April 12, 2008, e-Manifest coversheets can be printed for drivers whose names have apostrophes. Prior to April 12, 2008, carriers that filed e-Manifests via the ACE Secure Data Portal were not able to print e-Manifest coversheets for such names.
Proxy TAOs Can Now Access "Create Crew" Button
According to CBP, the access to "Create Crew" has been repaired. Some Proxy Trade Account Owners (TAOs) had not been able to access the "Create Crew" button for the purpose of adding new, non-Free and Secure Trade (FAST) drivers to ACE and their carrier account. As of April 12, 2008, these Proxy TAOs can now add drivers to their account.
