CBP CSMS Messages and Web Postings
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a Truck Manifest and Automated Broker Interface CSMS message stating that the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Certification Environment will be available for trade testing on April 15, 2008 and cancelling its previous message which stated that it would not be available for trade testing on April 15, 2008 from 7:00 a.m. EDT until 11:00 p.m. EDT. 2. CBP Announces System Outage for FDA's OASIS and PNSI Systems
CBP has issued an ABI CSMS message announcing that due to unplanned emergency system maintenance, both Food and Drug Administration's Operational and Administrative System for Import Support (OASIS) and Prior Notice System Interface (PNSI) systems will be down from 3:30 p.m. on April 7, 2008 until 6:00 a.m. on April 8, 2008. CBP states that further information will follow as soon as it is available. 3. Overview of CBP's Compliance Measurement Program
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted an overview of its Compliance Measurement (CM) Program which is a primary method by which CBP measures risk in the areas of cargo security, trade compliance, and revenue collection. The CM program is also a key performance indicator used to determine if CBP's internal controls are operating effectively as they pertain to ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. 4. Overview of CBP's National Account Management Program
CBP has posted an overview of its National Account Management program which is designed to increase importer compliance and improve customer service through one-on-one interaction with business entities and a designated CBP representative. CBP notes that accounts can be either importer or broker accounts and are selected by the CBP Headquarters Account Management Branch based on value and potential risk to CBP. All importers participating in the Importer Self-Assessment (ISA) program have a designated Account Manager as an additional benefit. 5. CBP Launches Upgrades to its Web Site
CBP has posted a notice announcing that the next phase of the CBP.gov Web site upgrade is now live and features a better display of information on CBP's major missions of border security, trade and travel as well as agency news and career information. CBP states that the upgrade also introduces streamlined menu bar and footers, as well as more photos and graphics.
