Chapters Posted on ACS to ACE Transition, Importer/Bond Query, Etc.
CBP has posted the following three chapters:
ACS to ACE Transition Topics. This chapter contains information concerning processes and procedures during the interim period when both the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and the legacy system, the Automated Commercial System (ACS), co-exist. These procedures will be superseded as ACE becomes the system of record and built to fully handle the functionality in future releases. In addition, this chapter provides information concerning functionality that is new to CBP and the trade community and therefore new in ACE.
Importer/Consignee Create/Update1. This chapter details the input and output record layouts for ABI filers to add information to or update existing name and address information in the Importer/Consignee File. This process was previously identified with CBP Form 5106 (Notification of Importer's Number or Notice of Change of Name or Address).
Importer/Bond Query2. This chapter provides ABI filers the record formats and processing information to query the Importer/Consignee File and Importer/Bond File for name, address, and bond information.
Four Chapters, Two Appendices Previously Posted
In addition to these three new chapters, CBP has also posted four chapters and two appendices of the ACE ABI CATAIR document to its Web site. These four ACE ABI CATAIR chapters are: Census Warning Query; Census Warning Override; Entry Summary Filing and Response Guide; and Entry Summary Status Notification. The two appendices are: Appendix H - Census Warning Messages and Override Codes; and Appendix Q - Record Layout Key. (See ITT's Online Archives or 03/19/08 news, 08031910, for most recent BP summary on additions to the ACE ABI CATAIR.)
1,2These chapters are similar to the current CATAIR chapters titled "Add CBPF-5106 to Importer/Consignee File" and "Query Importer/Bond," respectively. However, text revisions were made to these chapters to better explain the process, clarify the record formats and data elements, provide consistency with other ACE ABI CATAIR chapters, and to adhere to new standards for ACE ABI CATAIR documentation.
(See ITT's Online Archives or 03/06/08 news, 08030605, for BP summary of CBP announcing the creation of the ACE ABI CATAIR.)
