The Canada Border Services Agency has announced its goal of introducing a modernized Partner in Protection (PIP) program by June 30, 2008. Membership applications to the current PIP program will only be accepted until March 31, 2008. After that date, no applications will be accepted until June 30, 2008, when the modernized PIP program takes effect. (Canada's PIP program is similar to the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program.) 2. CBP Adds SAT to List of Designated Landing Locations for Certain Aircraft

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a final rule, effective April 7, 2008, amending 19 CFR Part 122 by adding the San Antonio International Airport (SAT), located in San Antonio, Texas, to the list of designated airports at which certain aircraft arriving in the continental U.S. from certain areas south of the U.S. must land for CBP processing. 3. State Dept Designates Haqqani as Global Terrorist

The State Department has issued a notice designating Sirajuddin Haqqani (aka Sirajuddin Haqani, aka Siraj Haqqani, aka Siraj Haqani, aka Saraj Haqqani, aka Saraj Haqani) as a "Specially Designated Global Terrorist" pursuant to Section 1(b) of Executive Order 13224, as amended. 4. International Law Committee to Hold Open Meeting

The State Department has issued a notice announcing that the Advisory Committee on International Law will hold an open meeting on March 28, 2008 in Washington, DC. It is anticipated that the agenda of the meeting will cover a range of current international legal topics, including issues in treaty practice; the U.S. and the International Law Commission (ILC); United Nations targeted sanctions; and the proposed executive agreement with Iraq. 5. DHS' National Infrastructure Advisory Council to Hold Open Meeting

The Department of Homeland Security's National Infrastructure Advisory Council will hold an open meeting on April 8, 2008 in Washington, DC.
