1. FDA Revises Certain AofC Codes for Imported Biologic Products

Two New AofC Codes Developed by FDA

The Food and Drug Administration has developed the following two new AofC codes for use in the transmission of imported biological products, available immediately:

Title/Description:Biologics License Number. CBP explains that the qualifier for this code should be the four digit U.S. biologics license number issued by FDA's CBER to the manufacturer of the biological product identified in the FDA line. The biologics license number is the U.S. license number (not the STN number).

FDA to End-Date Two AofC Codes

Also, CBP states that the FDA will be end-dating the following two AofC codes 30 days from February 27, 2008:

CodeTitle/Description
BPLBiologic Product License Number
BFLBiologic Establishment License Number

(CBP states that use of AofC codes affirms that the product identified in a FDA line meets the requirements specific to the code. CBP notes that while use of these codes is voluntary, transmission can help expedite the entry review process.)
