CSMS is now the official communication service between CBP and the trade community, and includes administrative messages that had previously been issued via the Automated Broker Interface (application identifier MR).

First CSMS Message Sent and Posted to Database

Those who have already subscribed to the CSMS email list serve should have received the first CSMS message, which was issued on February 11, 2008.

The first message states that CSMS is designed to provide information to users of CBP's commercial trade interface systems (ACE, ABI, AMS, etc.). Messages will be issued based on need and will advise users of changes to these systems, delays in processing trade data, and other pertinent information.

This first email also provides a link to the CSMS database where the messages are stored, http://apps.cbp.gov/csms. The database is searchable and messages can be retrieved based on a combination of keywords and filtering by group.

Over 2,800 previously issued ABI administrative messages from June 15, 1992 to October 30, 2007 are currently contained in the CSMS database. CBP sources expect the CSMS database to soon be updated to include more recent ABI administrative messages.
