CBP Administrative Messages, Web Postings, Etc.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued an ABI administrative message announcing that the New Orleans client representative branch office will be closed on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 due to the observance of the local Mardi Gras holiday. CBP states that the office will reopen on Wednesday, February 6, 2008.

French, Spanish reminders on end of accepting oral declarations. CBP has posted a document (in French and Spanish) reminding the public that as part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), effective January 31, 2008, oral declarations will no longer be satisfactory as evidence of citizenship and identity for U.S. and Canadian citizens ages 19 and older entering the U.S. at land or sea ports of entry. FAQ on end of oral declarations. CBP has updated its frequently asked questions document on the end of the use of oral declarations as evidence of citizenship and identity when entering the U.S. at land or sea ports of entry. The antidumping and countervailing messages U.S. Customs Border and Protection issues on behalf of the International Trade Administration are now only available on CBP's Web site at http://addcvd.cbp.gov. AD and CV ABI administrative messages are no longer issued.
