U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued an ABI administrative message announcing that due to the residual effects of the conversion to a new email product, CBP is having difficulties receiving messages for Standard Character Alpha Code (SCAC) and Lloyds updates via its email.

1. CBP Requests Lloyds, SCAC Codes Updates be Sent via Fax
CBP requests that the trade submit SCAC and Lloyds updates via fax at (703) 650-3650 until the problem has been resolved. CBP adds that it will address the faxed updates it receives as soon as possible.

Information on I-94 permits for Mexican holiday travelers. CBP has issued two press releases regarding I-94 permits stating that: (1) Beginning immediately, travelers seeking I-94 documents will be allowed to apply in advance at the Calexico port of entry, rather than waiting in line during the holidays; and (2) Beginning December 14, 2007, travelers seeking I-94 documents at the San Ysidro port of entry may apply at any time, day or night, up to 30 days in advance rather than waiting.
