U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued an ABI administrative message announcing that changes are being made for the XR line release output application. CBP states that it would like to implement the changes on December 15, 2007; however, if that date is unacceptable, CBP is asking the trade to contact their client representative.

1. CBP Plans to Change the XR Line Release Output Application on Dec. 15th
CBP will change the programming to start sending an X25 output record in the XR application for Border Release Advanced Screening and Selectivity (BRASS) program entries with truck modes of transportation.
In addition, a new field will be added to the X25 record for the mode of transportation. See CBP's ABI administrative message for details on how the record identifier X25 (output) is to be sent and formatted.

CBP has posted to its Web site a list of upcoming "Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) on the Road" events, as follows:

American Association of Exporters and Importers Western Regional Conference and Expo - ACE Panel Discussion: An Update on Post Entry Corrections
CBP states that these events provide a comprehensive overview of the ACE e-Manifest and its functionality, as well as address the following: ACE e-Manifest status; CBP rules and regulations; enforcement plans and exemptions; shipment release types including in-bond processing; e-Manifest filing options; and new release Entry Summary, Accounts, and Revenue (ESAR) A1 functionality.

CBP FedEx Indianapolis seizes $113 million in counterfeit checks. CBP has issued a press release announcing that officers stationed at the FedEx Express Consignment Operation in Indianapolis have seized in excess of $113 million in counterfeit checks in the past 12 months. These counterfeit checks are mainly arriving from Canada and they are part of an operation that preys on a large number of U.S. citizens. CBP opens new sub-station in Scobey, MT. According to a CBP press release, CBP recently opened a new sub-station in Scobey, Montana near the Montana/Canada border. The Scobey sub-station is one of the Border Patrol's new infrastructures to support agents in the field to achieve incremental and focused operational control of U.S. borders. Expanded hours for Port Huron's NEXUS lanes. CBP has issued a press release stating that CBP, in cooperation with Blue Water Bridge, Canada, announced there will be expanded hours of operation for the dedicated NEXUS crosser lanes at the Blue Water Bridge during upcoming weekends. The new weekend hours will be in place on a trial basis beginning November 24 and will continue through January 6.
