CBP Posts 2007 Trade Symposium Tentative Agenda (Registration is Full)

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted to its Web site the tentative agenda for the CBP Trade Symposium 2007 which will be held on November 14-15, 2007 in Washington, DC.

According to CBP, the following panel discussions will take place during the upcoming Trade Symposium:

Cargo Security. This panel will focus on the positive government-to-government, and government-to-business partnerships which help to strengthen end to end supply chain security. The panel discussions will focus primarily on the 100% scanning mandate from the 9/11 Act, the Secure Freight Initiative, and the mutual recognition activities of the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program.

Import Safety Trade Issues. This panel will discuss the Import Safety Working Group, emphasizing positive changes in the way import safety is managed. It will stress the collaborative effort among government agencies to improve import safeguards and discuss the importance of internal controls. The panel will include representatives from the government and the trade community to talk about challenges faced at the border and measures taken to combat the ever-increasing threat to public health and safety.

USDA/CBP Merger. This panel will discuss the CBP/U.S. Department of Agriculture Taskforce for Joint Initiatives to enhance the agriculture mission and the "pros" for maintenance of agriculture inspection activities within CBP. The panel will also provide an update on the National Agriculture Release Program and the new Quarantine 56 database.

ACE Best Practices. This panel highlights the way companies are using the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) to maximize compliance. Company representatives will give real-life examples of how ACE reports have helped them increase their compliance levels.

Future of Trade. This panel provides an opportunity to hear what trade areas CBP will focus on in the coming months and how it will affect the trade community. Panel members will discuss future activities with regard to trade issues including trade enforcement, broker programs, automation, penalties and impact of recent regulatory changes. This panel will include a question and answer session.

Registration is Full, a Waiting List is Available

According to CBP's Web site, registration for the Trade Symposium is now full and a waiting list is available.
