(KI and TI were rerouted to Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) for processing with the deployment of Entry Summary, Accounts, and Revenue (ESAR) A1.)
In its message, CBP notes the following issues with addresses and postal codes:
Canadian Postal Codes Should be Transmitted in the ANAbNAN Format
CBP states that the current version of the Customs and Trade Automated Interface Requirements (CATAIR) document (June 2007 - Amendment 17) specifically states that Canadian postal codes should be transmitted in the ANAbNAN format (where A = alphabetic; N = numeric; b = blank space).
ACE Experiencing Problems When Zip 4 is Transmitted with Address
According to CBP, ACE is experiencing problems when the zip 4 is transmitted with the address. CBP states that if filers are receiving rejects and have verified that the data and the formatting of the transaction is correct, the transaction should be resubmitted without the 4 zip code. CBP states that it is currently working on this problem.
Output on KR transactions is Dropping Last 2 Digits of Canadian Postal Codes
CBP states that it has received numerous reports that output on KR transactions is dropping the last 2 digits on Canadian postal codes. CBP advises that the data is writing properly to ACE and Automated Commercial System (ACS) and will not affect the filing of entry/entry summary transactions. According to CBP, this problem is also being worked on.
Problems Continue with City/State Information on TI Transactions
CBP states that it has had a number of reports from ABI filers about accurate city/state information on TI transactions resulting in system rejects. In ABI administrative message 07-0218, CBP instructed filers to verify the address information with Web sites listed in the message. CBP states that it is now learning that ACE is looking for the "preferred" address only and variations of an address are being rejected.
CBP states that if a filer's transaction is rejecting with "invalid address," the Web sites should be checked and the "preferred" or "accepted" city/state combination should be used until CBP can fix the problem.

CBP advises filers to continue to report problems to their client representatives.
