U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted to its Web site a notice announcing the opening of the tariff-rate quota on mixed condiments and seasonings as provided for in HTS Chapter 21, Additional U.S. Note 4 for FY 2008.

1. FY 2008 Mixed Condiments & Seasonings TRQ Opened October 1, 2007

According to CBP, this TRQ opened on October 1, 2007 and the TRQ level for all countries except Mexico is 689,000 kg.

CBP's notice lists the related HTS Chapters 21 and 99 tariff numbers, and states that imports from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Chile, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Jordan, Mexico, Morocco, Nicaragua, and Singapore are not subject to additional agricultural safeguard duties under HTS heading 9904, and should be presented as a type 02 entry using the high rate (over-quota) tariff number provided for in HTS Chapter 21 without the HTS Chapter 99 tariff number. Such entries must be reported through the quota module of Automated Commercial System (ACS).

2. Weekly TRQ/TPL Commodity Report as of October 1, 2007

CBP has issued its weekly tariff rate quota and tariff preference level commodity report as of October 1, 2007. This report includes TRQs on various products such as beef, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa products, tobacco, certain BFTA, DR-CAFTA, Israel FTA, JFTA, MFTA, SFTA, UAFTA (AFTA) and UCFTA (Chile FTA) non-textile TRQs, etc. Each report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, BFTA, DR-CAFTA, CBTPA, Haitian HOPE, MFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA TPLs and TRQs for qualifying apparel and/or other textile articles, the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics, etc. (CBP's weekly TRQ/TPL commodity report, dated 10/01/07, available at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/import/textiles_and_quotas/commodity/)

FY 2008 AGOA TPL, LDBC sublimit. CBP has posted a memo regarding the fiscal year 2008 tariff preference level and lesser developed beneficiary AGOA countries (LDBCs) sublimit for apparel wholly assembled or wholly formed in one or more African Growth and Opportunity Act beneficiary countries from certain fabric or yarn that are eligible to receive duty-free treatment. ATPDEA regional TPL. CBP has issued a memo regarding the TPL for apparel sewn or otherwise assembled in one or more ATPDEA beneficiary countries (i.e., Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, or Peru) from fabrics, fabric components formed, or components knit-to-shape from ATPDEA/U.S. yarns etc., that is eligible to receive duty-free treatment under the Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act for the October 1, 2007 - Febraury 29, 2008 period.
