U.S. Addresses

The address validation tool now requires that every U.S. address must be an actual street, city, state, and zip code combination.

After sending a U.S. address and receiving back a response indicating that the address is invalid, if the filer believes what was sent was accurate, CBP states the address should be verified at http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp before opening a trouble ticket.

Canadian Addresses

The address validation tool now requires that every Canadian address must be an actual street, city, province, and zip code combination.

After sending a Canadian address and receiving back a response indicating that the address is invalid, if the filer believes what was sent is accurate, CBP states the address should be verified at http://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pcl/bin/rural-e.asp before opening a trouble ticket.

Mexican Addresses

The address validation tool now requires that every Mexican address must be a valid street, city, state, and zip code combination.

After sending a Mexican address and receiving back a response indicating that the address is invalid, if the filer believes what was sent is accurate, CBP states the address shold be verified at: http://www.sepomex.gob.mx/sepomex/servicios/ofpostales/ prior to opening a trouble ticket.

Foreign Addresses Other Than Canada or Mexico

For foreign addresses, other than Canada and Mexico, though the address validation tool does not require that the reported data be an actual address, it does validate to ensure that the data adheres to address formatting rules pertinent to the reported country.
