CBP Posts its January - March 2007 Report to Congress on ACE (Part II - Final)

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted to its Web site its report to Congress on the Automated Commercial Environment for the second quarter of fiscal year (FY) 2007 (i.e., January 1, 2007 - March 31, 2007).

CBP's report provides an update on ACE accomplishments, challenges, fiscal status, and upcoming program milestones. According to CBP, the report demonstrates how ACE is helping CBP achieve Department of Homeland Security strategic objectives, and how ACE is providing CBP personnel in the field with enhanced capabilities to better accomplish the CBP mission of preventing terrorism and facilitating legitimate trade and travel.

This is Part II, the final part of a two-part series of summaries on this report and highlights CBP's ACE-related accomplishments for the April 1, 2007 - June 30, 2007 period. CBP Accomplishments for the April 1, 2007 - June 30, 2007 Period

According to CBP's report, the following are highlights of CBP's ACE-related accomplishments for the April 1, 2007 - June 30, 2007 period (partial list):

April 2007:

CBP was scheduled to complete the second quarterly drop (Increment 4.0) for the Targeting Framework (TF), in which CBP planned to provide new user capabilities and enhancements.

CBP was scheduled to implement a modular, computer-based training package, informally known as "Office for ACE.," which was intended for identified users of forthcoming Entry Summary, Accounts, and Revenue (ESAR) A1 capabilities. May 2007:

CBP was scheduled to conduct a test of initial Rail and Sea Manifest (M1) capabilities using production data. The test was to help identify and resolve any significant performance issues prior to the scheduled May 2008 Test Readiness Review (TRR).

CBP was scheduled to deliver Advanced Targeting Drop 3, which was to provide further enhancements to user defined rules and impact assessment, and optimization to the Rule Manager.

June 2007:

CBP was scheduled to complete the TRR for Advanced Targeting (Release S3) capabilities, which would validate the functionality to move into testing.

CBP expects no delays in ACE Screening and Targeting releases. CBP notes in its report that based on the status of the above preparations, the ACE Screening and Targeting (S&T) releases continue on schedule with no potential risk for a delay.
