CBP Announces October 15-17 ACE Exchange VII Conference in Atlanta, GA
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted a notice to its Web site announcing that it will be holding the Automated Commercial Environment Exchange VII conference in Atlanta, GA on October 15 - 17, 2007.

(Note that the agenda for the first day of the conference, October 15th, only includes event registration and one-on-one ACE account appointments.)
CBP to provide trade with info. on new functionality. According to a CBP ABI administrative message regarding ACE Exchange VII, CBP is holding this conference to provide the trade with information on tools that are currently available in ACE, including the new functionality that is expected to be deployed in September 2007 (see below).
A CBP news release regarding this conference states that CBP is encouraging more companies to participate in ACE, and this event will explain how ACE has helped companies comply with a new regulatory mandate and how ACE has given importers, brokers, and truck carriers an advantage over their competitors.
CBP notes that any regulatory and technical changes that will impact the business of importing goods into the U.S. will also be discussed.

1ESAR A1 is currently scheduled to be deployed in September 2007. Trade testing of the ABI application identifiers KI (bond query) and TI (CBP Form 5106 add/update) that are to be routed to the ACE System for processing when A1 is deployed became available July 25, 2007. CBP has previously explained that ACE is the new U.S. trade processing system designed to consolidate and automate border processing to significantly enhance border security and foster U.S. economic security through lawful international trade and travel. It will eventually replace the Automated Commercial System (ACS) as the cargo processing system of record for CBP.
