CBP Administrative Messages, Web Postings, Etc.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site a notice announcing that it has completed the necessary programming changes for automated filing through the Automated Broker Interface (ABI) of Haitian Hemispheric Opportunity through Partnership Encouragement (HOPE) Act of 2006 entries. CBP states that all claims for preferential tariff treatment under the Haitian HOPE Act may be filed via an ABI entry. For shipments of apparel, the Haitian HOPE Act visa number should be reported in the proper format in the visa field.

3. Various Postings to CBP's Web Site

CBP has recently posted the following to its Web site:

Unified business resumption messaging board.CBP has made available to its Web site a messaging board entitled "CBP Unified Business Resumption Messaging," which provides messages, direction, and updates to enable post-incident resumption of trade. SBInet timeline.CBP has posted to its Web site an SBInet timeline. The timeline dates back to when the Secure Border Initiative (SBI) was established in November 2005. CBP's response to question on making arrival in the U.S. easier for foreign travelers. CBP has issued its response to the question "what can be done to make arrival in the U.S. easier for foreign travelers?" CBP states, among other things, that international travelers arriving in the U.S. should be welcomed and processed in an effective and efficient manner, which is the guiding principle of CBP's efforts to create a model airport, a prototype environment that accommodates increased security screening and a more user-friendly process. SENTRI hours of operation expanded at Calexico downtown port. CBP has issued a press release announcing that it expanded the hours of operation of the Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI) lane at the Calexico downtown port of entry beginning April 1, 2007 in response to the growth of the popular commuter program. CBP officials brief AZ legislators on border initiatives.
