CBP Posts EDI User Manual
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site a user manual entitled "Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) the ACE Way."

According to CBP, this is Edition 1.0 of the EDI User Manual, and the information in this edition applies to Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Release 4 for Truck.
Manual Is Provided to Help Facilitate the Understanding, Implementation of EDI
CBP states that this manual is being provided to the trade to help facilitate the understanding and implementation of EDI. CBP adds that this guide is not a replacement for the UN/EDIFACT Implementation Guide1, and the manual is expected to be used as an initial high-level reference document.
Each of Manual's 5 Chapters Addresses Critical Area of EDI Development
CBP's manual is divided into the following five chapters, which each address a critical area of EDI development:
Chapter 1 - Getting Started with EDI
Chapter 2 - Creating ANSI Transactions
Chapter 3 - Creating EDIFACT Transactions
Chapter 4 - Response and Notification Messages
Chapter 5 - Advance Transaction Techniques
