2. FDA Posts Various Notices to its Web Site

The Food and Drug Administration has posted the following notices to its Web site:

FDA requesting nearly $2.1 billion as part of President's FY 2008 budget. FDA has issued a press release announcing that it is requesting nearly $2.1 billion to protect and promote public health as part of the President's fiscal year (FY) 2008 budget- more than a 5% increase over the budget submitted to Congress last year. The FY 2008 request includes $1.64 billion in budget authority and nearly $444 million in industry user fees. Update and Q&A on Salmonella outbreak related to Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter. FDA has posted to its Web site an update and a question and answer (Q&A) document on the Salmonella outbreak related to Peter Pan peanut butter and Great Value peanut butter. FDA states that Peter Pan peanut butter purchased since May 2006 is affected; only those jars of Great Value peanut butter purchased since May 2006 with a product code beginning with "2111" are affected. FDA warns consumers not to use certain jars of Earth's Best baby food. FDA has issued a press release warning consumers not to use certain jars of Earth's Best Organic 2 Apple Peach Barley Wholesome Breakfast baby food because of the risk of contamination with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause botulism, a life-threatening illness or death.
