1. Alert - Problem with EDI Truck E-Manifest on Evening of January 25, 2007

Headquarters has sent out some interim instructions to the ACE ports instructing them to expedite e-Manifest shipments using the same procedures CBP uses when its interfaces are down. This will allow them to verify that all entries are on file and allowed to be released. If entries are not in ACS, trucks will be stopped at the border until the entry is transmitted and accepted.

CBP states that carriers must do their part as well by continuing to send correct and timely e-Manifests. When the situation is resolved, CBP will inform the trade. (See ITT's Online Archives or news announcing first group of ports for e-Manifest trucks to be implemented 01/25/07)(CBP Adm: 07-0035, dated 01/26/07, available at http://www.brokerpower.com/cgi-bin/adminsearch/admmsg.view.pl?article=2007/2007-0035.ADM )

2. CBP Updates its Q&A on the Feb 3-20, 2007 Grace Period for WCO HTS Changes

CBP has posted to its Web site an updated version of its question and answer (Q&A) document regarding the February 3-20, 2007 grace period for the World Customs Organization (WCO) 2007 Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) changes that become effective February 3, 2007. In its update, CBP revises the answers to the following two questions: (1) When will the "Grace Period" be in effect? and (2) When will the 2007 HTS tariff records be available in ABI/ACS for maintenance? (See ITT's Online Archives or 01/22/07 and 01/25/07 news, 07012205 and 07012505, for BP summaries reflecting these corrections and updates.)
