CBP Administrative Messages, Web Postings, Etc.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued an ABI administrative message announcing that due to inclement weather a snow day has been granted for all filers filing entries in the area port of Seattle (which includes Seattle's subports) for Thursday, January 11, 2007. CBP is extending one additional day without penalty for the filing and payment of entry summaries due on that day. Filers should contact the Port of Seattle (206-553-4619) with any questions regarding the snow day. 2. Quota Preprocessing for Apparel Extended Through 12/31/08, TPL and TRQ Apparel Not Eligible
CBP has posted to its Web site a notice reminding the trade that the duration of the Quota Preprocessing (QPP) program test has been extended until December 31, 2008. QPP allows entries of apparel in HTS Chapters 61 and 62 that are subject to an absolute quota to be presented and have their quota priority and status determined prior to the arrival of the carrier. CBP notes that QPP does not include any merchandise subject to tariff preference levels (TPLs) or tariff rate quotas (TRQs). According to CBP sources, TPLs and TRQs don't need QPP, as such merchandise is subject to different processing requirements. (See ITT's Online Archives or 09/25/06 news, 06092515, for BP summary of CBP notice announcing the extension of QPP through December 31, 2008.) (QBT-06-031, dated 12/13/06, available at
