Does the Trade Account Owner (TAO) need to be an officer of the company?
No. CBP states that the Trade Account Owner can be anyone the company wishes to assign and appoint as the TAO.
On the portal Power of Attorney (POA) form may the individual signing for the company also be the Account Owner?
Yes.
The POA says it has to be sealed and signed? Does it still need a seal?
No, a notary is not required, just a signature of an officer and a witness.
Should ACE participants contact the ACE Help Desk or their Account Managers if they have problems after the ACE account has been established?
CBP explains that the ACE Help Desk is mainly there to help explain how ACE works if a CBP Account Manager, on line help, or the Web Based Training does not answer a participant's question. The Helpdesk is the place to call if an ACE participant is certain it has run into a technical difficulty.
How is the Account Manager chosen?
According to CBP, generally, the Account Manager is a CBP person at a port where the ACE participant does business. CBP adds that ACE participants cannot choose their own Account Managers.
Can ACE participants change Account Managers?
Yes. CBP states that participants can request a change through the port director.
Is there any particular browser requirement for ACE?
Yes. CBP states that ACE will not run on Firefox or Netscape. ACE participants must have Internet 6.0. CBP notes that there are issues with version 7.0, but it is currently working on those issues.
