CBP Posts Information On the December 2006 Trade Support Network Meeting

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site various materials related to presentations made at the December 11-13, 2006 meeting of the Trade Support Network (TSN).

(CBP has been meeting with the TSN since May 14, 2001 regarding the development of the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and has stated that the TSN has over 150 members of the trade community, including trade associations, importers, brokers, carriers, sureties, and others.)

The following is an overview of the documents from the December 2006 TSN meeting which are currently available on CBP's Web site. See future issues of ITT for additional details from the December 2006 TSN meeting.

ACE Update. This presentation discusses the ACE milestones since the February 2006 TSN meeting, ACE milestones for the next year, Truck e-Manifest port deployment schedule, mandatory e-Manifest policy, new ACE reports functionality, the International Trade Data System (ITDS), the SAFE Port Act of 2006, expansion of the ACE Help Desk and ACE Help Desk improvement initiatives.

Entry Summary, Accounts and Revenue (ESAR): A2 Update. The first part of this presentation provides an overview of ESAR A2, information on post release, post summary corrections, document required processing, post release-ABI changes, ABI changes spreadsheet, Census warning override process, request and notices, and post release updates.

The second part of the presentation deals with finance key process changes and addresses issues including bills-supplemental duty and miscellaneous, refunds, statements, post summary corrections: financial transaction, e-Bond, and lessons learned.

Legal and Policy Update. This presentation discusses legislative changes from the Miscellaneous Trade and Technical Corrections Act of 2006, proposed legislation regarding drawback, and various ACE Federal Register notices.

ACE Performance Measures. This presentation is from a briefing to the Trade Leadership Council which provides background information on ACE performance measures, trade-related measures, and survey measures. This presentation also covered CBP's request for help from the trade on developing and piloting a user survey and analyzing survey results.

Implementation of the Electronic Truck Manifest in Mexico. This presentation was given by Francisco Jaime King Cancino from the Confederation of Customs Broker Associations of Mexico at the Truck Manifest session. The presentation provides information on crossing into Mexico and implementation of the electronic truck manifest in Mexico.

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Commercial Projects. This presentation provides information on CBSA commercial innovations, the status of existing programs (e.g., Customs Self Assessment, Free and Secure Trade, etc.), e-Manifest features and benefits, e-Manifest key components, e-Manifest stakeholder partnership network (eSPN), and other CBSA/CBP collaborative efforts, etc.

TSN Plenary Agenda. This document contains the final agenda for the TSN plenary session and includes the schedule for various committee/subcommittee meetings, informational sessions, updates, etc.
