(See ITT's Online Archives or 08/25/06 news, 06082505, for BP summary on previous ACE Exchange Conference for importers, brokers, and carriers.)
Exchange Conference to focus on ACE's benefits/impact on business operations, etc. CBP states that the conference will educate the trade community on ACE, its benefits and impact on business operations. CBP has previously explained that ACE is the new U.S. trade processing system designed to consolidate and automate border processing to significantly enhance border security and foster U.S. economic security through lawful international trade and travel. It will eventually replace the Automated Commercial System (ACS) as the cargo processing system of record for CBP. CBP stresses that it is important for importers, brokers, and carriers to understand the many new legal policy and requirement changes underway. CBP states that the conference will provide information on ACE and allow an open forum of communication between CBP and the trade community.
Conference to separately address issues of importers/brokers, truck carriers, and EDI software developers. CBP states that in order to deliver audience specific information, ACE Exchange II will be divided into three sessions.
CBP states that the first session of the ACE conference will focus on issues important to EDI software developers for truck manifest (October 30) while the second session will cover topics of interest to importers and brokers (October 31st and November 1st). The third and final session of the conference will cover topics of interest to the truck carrier community (November 1st and 2nd).
The topics to be discussed include the following:
Overview of ACE and the ACE Secure Data Portal;
Legal Policy Issues;
Paying duties and fees on a monthly basis;
Trade reports which provide insight into compliance and financial data;
Operational impacts on mandatory advanced manifest; and
Communications between filer and carriers
Registration for general sessions is free and now open. CBP notes that registration for the ACE Exchange II Conference is free. According to CBP, registration for the general sessions is open and registration for EDI/Truck Manifest developer exhibit hall is coming soon.
