14 New York Land Ports Scheduled for ACE e-Manifest in Summer 2006
CBP states that in June it prepared to introduce the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) to the northeast as the ACE deployment team headed to New York to begin training operations for CBP port staff. New York land ports scheduled for ACE electronic manifest (e-Manifest) installation in summer 2006 include:
Champlain | Fort Covington |
Mooers | Churubusco |
Rouses Point | Jamison's Line |
Canon Corners | Ogdensburg |
Overton Corners | Massena |
Trout River | Alexandria Bay |
Chateaugay | Lewiston |
According to CBP, the e-Manifest capability is already available to truck carriers at 44 ACE-enabled ports, including those in the states of Arizona, California, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, and Washington.
e-Manifest Expected to Become Mandatory in 2006 on a Port-by-Port Basis
CBP states that it expects to begin making e-Manifest usage mandatory on a port-by-port basis later in 2006. Notices will be posted on the CBP Web site and in the Federal Register at least 90 days in advance. CBP encourages truck carriers to begin filing e-Manifests now, in order to avoid the rush when it becomes mandatory.
