CBP to Meet With Trade in Laredo on June 29th to Propose/Discuss Expanding Southern Border Highway Carrier Segment of C-TPAT
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted notice to its Web site that it will hold a meeting on June 29, 2006 in Laredo, Texas to propose and discuss expanding the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) Southern Border Highway Carrier segment to include the following sectors:

Drayage/Transfer companies in the Nuevo Laredo, Mexico area that currently cross the border into the U.S.
Long/Line haul carriers the currently transport merchandise for C-TPAT Mexican Manufacturers and U.S. C-TPAT importers that do not cross the border into the U.S.
CBP states that the meeting will run from 8:30 am to 5 pm and will include a C-TPAT Program Overview, Free and Secure Trade (FAST) Program Overview, Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Overview, Question and Answer Panel, and Open Discussion on the Topic of Southern Border Highway Carrier Extension.
Attorneys and Consultants Not Intended Audience
According to CBP, the following parties can attend this meeting:
A representative from a Mexican drayage/transfer company
A representative from a Long/Line Haul Highway Carrier
A representative from a Mexican Brokerage Firm
A representative from a C-TPAT importer
A representative from a C-TPAT Mexican Manufacturer
A representative from a U.S./Mexico Trade Association
As this meeting is not intended to provide information to a general trade audience on the C-TPAT, FAST or ACE programs, attorneys and consultants wishing to gain insight, program updates or inquiries on C-TPAT applications are not the intended audience.
CBP notes that the C-TPAT importers or C-TPAT Mexican Manufacturers must be certified members of C-TPAT, and that some form of company identification must be presented to gain admission to the meeting.
