CBP Issues CATAIR Amendment 7 (June 2006)
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site Amendment 7, dated June 2006, to the Customs and Trade Automated Interface Requirements document (CATAIR).

The CATAIR documentation provides complete information on how importers and/or their agents can become ABI participants, as well as how they can provide electronic import information to ABI, and receive transmissions from ABI once they have become a participant. The CATAIR begins with general information about ABI participation along with instructions on how to become an ABI participant. The main body of the CATAIR consists of the data record formats used for conducting electronic data interchange (EDI) between the participant's computer system and CBP's ABI.
According to CBP, the following CATAIR sections have been amended as follows:
Application Control
Record Identifier B - New codes added to "Note 2" for the new FTZ application.
Add Manufacturer Name & Address
Record Identifier $1 - Added "Note 2".
Record Identifier $3 - Added "Note 1".
Record Identifier $4 - Added "Note 1".
Automated Manifest System (AMS) Broker Download
Changed chapter title from "Automated Manifest System (AMS) Rail" to "Automated Manifest System (AMS) Broker Download."
Made numerous edits through chapter.
Entry Summary
Record Identifier 50 - Added new code "P" to Note 1. Added new code "P" to Note 4.
Record Identifier 70 - Added new code "P" and "P" to Note 3.
Record Identifier 80- Added new code "P" and "P" to Note 3.
