CBP has issued an ABI administrative message announcing that its most recent changes to the 2006 Harmonized Tariff Schedule records, Harmonized System (HS) Update (No. 0603) contains changes with respect to:

1. HS Update - Changes to the 2006 Harmonized Tariff Schedule Records

Additional statistical breakouts in HTS Chapters 52 and 62 for imports containing compact yarns. These changes at the 9th and 10th digits are effective June 1, 2006, and are being implemented at the request of CITA;

A new multi-chip tariff number, 8543.89.93, with a duty rate of "free", and the renumbering of 8543.89.96 as 8543.89.97 with a duty rate of 2.6%, retroactive to April 1, 2006, at the request of USTR;

changes to the OGA flags and tariff rate quota indicators on the tariff file; and

changes required by the verification of the 2006 HTS.

CBP states that updated records are currently available to all ABI participants and can be retrieved electronically via the procedures outlined in the Customs and Trade Automated Interface Requirements (CATAIR). 2. Weekly TRQ/TPL Commodity Report as of May 15, 2006

CBP has issued its weekly tariff rate quota (TRQ) commodity report as of May 15, 2006. This report includes TRQs on various products such as beef, tuna, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa powder, tobacco, certain CAFTA-DR, JFTA, MFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, UAFTA (AFTA) and UCFTA (Chile FTA) non-textile TRQs, etc. This report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, CAFTA-DR, CBTPA, MFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA (Chile FTA) tariff preference levels (TPLs) and TRQs for qualifying apparel and/or other textile articles, the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics, etc. (CBP's weekly TRQ/TPL commodity report, dated 05/15/06, available at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/import/textiles_and_quotas/commodity/)
