CBP Administrative Messages, Web Postings, Etc.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued an administrative message stating that local CBP management has granted two additional snow days, October 27 - 28, 2005, for all south Florida ports due to the effects of Hurricane Wilma. CBP adds that should it be necessary to grant additional snow days during the week of October 31, 2005, this information will be announced in a future message. CBP's Office of Information and Technology has posted an updated notice to its Web site, dated 10/27/05, of companies/persons offering Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Electronic Truck Manifest data processing services to the trade community. The October 27, 2005 list includes the name, address, and contact information for the following data processing services:

- U.S.-Australia joint counter terrorism passport alert system. This CBP press release states that the U.S. and Australia have begun piloting an enhancement to their existing border management systems. The pilot system is known as the Regional Movement Alert List (RMAL), which CBP states is an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) counter-terrorism initiative that will allow the automated checking of each others lost, stolen or otherwise invalid passport records.
