2. Weekly Quota Commodity Report as of October 24, 2005
CBP has issued its weekly quota commodity report as of October 24, 2005. This report includes tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) on various products such as beef, tuna, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa powder, tobacco, certain JFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, UAFTA and UCFTA TRQs, etc. This report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, CBTPA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA (CFTA) tariff preference levels (TPLs) for qualifying apparel and/or other textile articles, the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics, etc. (CBP's weekly quota commodity report, dated 10/24/05, available at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/import/textiles_and_quotas/commodity/)

October 2005 ACE Modernization Monthly Newsletter. CBP has posted its October 2005 ACE Modernization Monthly newsletter to its Web site. This month's issue has, among others, an article entitled: ACE Shifts into High Gear in Michigan, which states that the launch of ACE in Detroit, Michigan, home of the big three automakers, will be the largest implementation of ACE to date. CBP Frontline News. This is the October 21, 2005 issue of a CBP publication that mostly focuses on immigration and contraband issues. Among other things, it notes that the digital photo deadline for passports is October 26, 2005. On that date, Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries will be required to produce passports with digital photographs. Posted on CBP's website, this updated document provides carriers with complete instructions for getting started in PAPs, including technical specifications and operational requirements. Although aimed at Northern Border carriers, it is useful for all PAPs participants. Construction to begin at Calexico West Port of Entry. A CBP press release states that a construction project to install Radiation Portal Monitors and License Plate Readers and to conduct repairs may temporarily increase wait times for vehicles entering the U.S. at the downtown Calexico port of entry.
