U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued an administrative message to all Northern and Southern border brokers stating that effective immediately, all ABI entry data transmissions for the truck mode of transportation should not have any data in the House bill field. 2. RLF/ABI Cargo Selectivity to be Turned Off for Four Minneapolis Area Ports "Old" Port Codes, Etc.
In an administrative message dated October 5, 2005, CBP announced that effective October 1, 2005, the ports of Duluth/Superior, Ashland, Omaha and Des Moines, which report to the Minneapolis area port, would have the following new port codes, etc. (for Duluth, MN - 3510, Ashland, WI - 3511, Omaha, NE - 3512, and Des Moines, IA - 3513) (See ITT's Online Archives or 10/14/05 news, 05101410, for BP summary.)
CBP is now advising ABI filers that Remote Location Filing (RLF) and ABI cargo selectivity will be turned off for the above four ports as of October 21, 2005 for their superseded port codes (Duluth - 3601, Superior - 3608, Ashland - 3602, Omaha - 3903, and Des Moines - 3907). Census message on new port codes for export - The Census Bureau has also issued an AES broadcast indicating that the new port codes for the above four Minneapolis Area Ports are also the new U.S. port of export codes, and effective immediately, have been added to AES. 3. Weekly Quota Commodity Report as of October 17, 2005
CBP has issued its weekly quota commodity report as of October 17, 2005. This report includes tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) on various products such as beef, tuna, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa powder, tobacco, certain JFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, UAFTA and UCFTA TRQs, etc. This report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, CBTPA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA (CFTA) tariff preference levels (TPLs) for qualifying apparel and/or other textile articles, the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics, etc. (CBP's weekly quota commodity report, dated 10/17/05, available at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/import/textiles_and_quotas/commodity/)
4. CBP Announces Import Specialist Teams for Louisiana & Alabama
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a notice announcing import specialist team assignments for Louisiana and Alabama, effective October 17, 2005. The notice announces four import specialist teams assigned to New Orleans, LA and one import specialist team assigned to Mobile, AL. For each team, CBP's notice lists a contact party and phone numbers, as well as a description of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) chapters and articles assigned to the team. 5. Consult CBP's Web Site for Operational Updates Regarding New Orleans
CBP has issued an administrative message that states that effective immediately, the trade should consult the CBP Web site, www.cbp.gov, for operational updates regarding the port of New Orleans, LA. CBP states that links labeled "Hurricane Katrina Recovery & Relief" and "Trade Updates" can be accessed in order to obtain the latest operational status for this port.
