According to CBP, on October 1, 2003, the ports of Des Moines, Omaha, Duluth/Superior and Ashland changed their reporting status from the Chicago area port (Des Moines and Omaha) and the Pembina area port (Duluth/Superior and Ashland) to the Minneapolis area port.
At that time (October 1, 2003), the port codes and permit responsibilities had not changed, which CBP states had caused confusion for the brokers and many problems for Minneapolis.
As a result, CBP states that its Chicago field office is establishing new port codes that are scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2005, and will transfer the broker permits to Minneapolis at the same time.
Effective with entries filed for release on October 1, 2005, CBP states that filers will use the following port codes:
Port Name | Current Port Code | New Port Code |
Duluth/Superior | 3601/3608 | 3510 |
Ashland | 3602 | 3511 |
Omaha | 3903 | 3512 |
Des Moines | 3907 | 3513 |
