CBP Issues Additional Information for the April 2005 Customs Broker License Examination

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site a document entitled "Instructions for the Customs Broker License Examination."

Instructions Contain Additional Information for Exam

These instructions contain some similar information to that which is covered in CBP's notice announcing the April 2005 exam; however, these instructions contain additional information, such as (see CBP's instructions for complete information):

No leaving until exam is complete. No one will be permitted to leave until all examinees at that location have completed the examination or until the allotted time expires.

Past exams, study guides may be brought, etc. Any written, non-electric, references, including study guides and past exams, may be brought.

Questions "generally" based on named references. Questions will generally be based on 19 CFR, the HTS, and specifically identified directives. However, CBP notes that it may ask questions about procedures not explicitly covered in these references.

No writing in exam booklets, scratch paper to be provided, etc. Examinees may not keep the examination booklets. Examinees are not permitted to write or make any marks in the examination booklet. Examinees may not write notes in their references once the test has begun, but rather all computations must be done on scratch paper that will be provided.

Scores will be mailed within 6 weeks after exam. Scores will be mailed to the examinees within six weeks after the examination. A letter containing the score will be received separately from the answer sheet, examination booklet, and answer key.
