Of the respondents familiar with VoIP, 39% said it provides a reliable signal and 36% know that VoIP provides features that aren’t available with a standard phone, according to the study. Only 27% of those familiar with the service said adding a phone line would be easy. Most of the “familiar” respondents (58%) said VoIP would save them money, the study showed. Similarly in Canada, only 23% were familiar with the terms VoIP and IP Telephony, and out of those who were, only 13% fully understood the technology, compared to 52% who understood the basics, and 35% who have heard the name only, the study showed.
